The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) will sponsor the 17th International Symposium on VLSI Technology, Systems and Applications (2010 VLSI-TSA) from 26 to 28 April 2010 at the Ambassador Hotel in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The symposium program will cover 2.5 days technical sessions including 3 plenary talks, one special session focusing on RF Devices, one joint special session on 3D IC (with VLSI-DAT), and numbers of contribution sessions followed by a half-day short course. The Best Student Paper Award for the 2009 Symposium will be presented at the opening of the symposium and the Best Student Paper Award for the 2010 Symposium will again be selected during the conference.

With its Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park, in 2008 Taiwan generating over 68.5% of the global semiconductor foundry revenue, 20.0% of the world DRAM production revenue, 28.0% of fabless revenue, and 47.3% of independent IC packaging revenue, Taiwan is doubtlessly one of the major dynamos of the semiconductor industry on this planet.

The conference is proud to create an annual platform for technical exchanges by experts from all over the world on the advancements in semiconductor research, development, and manufacturing. Join us at the VLSI-TSA technical programs to experience historic Hsinchu city, in which the technical and cultural atmosphere have been harmoniously connected.

The highlight of three VLSI-TSA keynote speeches shows below:
Dr. Tze-Chiang Chen, IBM Fellow and the Vice President of Science and Technology, IBM Research Division, USA
Topic: Innovation in Solid State Devices for Exascale Computing
Dr. Björn Ekelund, Head of Ecosystems and Research, CTO and Strategic Planning Office, ST-Ericssion, Switzerland
Topic: The technical challenges of the future generations of
        telecommunication technologies (LTE/4G)
Dr. Tzu Yin Chiu, President and CEO, Hua Hong NEC, China
Topic: A New Boom for China's Semiconductor Industry

Meanwhile, 2010 VLSI-TSA features a joint-invited session on 3D IC with the International Symposium on VLSI Design, Automation and Test (2010 VLSI-DAT), speakers from both design and technology field will give penetrating speeches to all the audience. More details of the conference program session will be released in January, 2010.

The 2009 VLSI-TSA has successfully attracted about 500 attendees with a very high-quality program featuring three keynote speeches, two special sessions, 22 invited talks, nine technical sessions with 54 technical papers presented, and two short courses. Both the contributing and invited papers are of high quality, and are presented by industrial and academic leaders and students from over 10 countries.

Starting 2005, the VLSI-TSA split its design segment to become the International Symposium on VLSI Design, Automation and Test (VLSI-DAT). For details about VLSI-DAT, please visit the website at http://vlsidat.itri.org.tw.
